Workday's Data and Content Generation team empowers internal and external customers with a set of immersive experiences around data and content. Drawing on familiar paradigms from the consumer world, this team strives to unlock the power of document and email layout and delivery experiences as well as productivity tools throughout the Workday ecosystem.

About the Role

As the Director of Engineering for Workday’s Data and Content Generation team, you will lead our engineering teams, delivering crucial capabilities that impact Workday's entire range of products from HCM to Financials. You'll balance customer needs and market opportunities against engineering capacity and timelines, to deliver the most significant functionality to market.

Recently, our products has expanded from a strategic focus on full stack products to a platform approach where a unified set of features serve many use cases across Workday application and customer teams. Owning the engineering team you will work with the product managers, designers, and researchers all geared towards building the best products possible for Workday customers.

This team needs someone who can think big (architecture) and think small (complex details) within a single day, with an appetite to deliver. We pride ourselves on innovation!

About You

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of software development experience preferably in software as a service industry.
  • 4+ years of people management experience leading large engineering teams
  • Strong technical expertise in software development and engineering best practices.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams of product management, researchers, and designers to deliver software to customers
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.


Other Qualifications

  • Enterprise software experience, and domain subject matter expertise in Financials and HCM.
  • Experience leading and developing people in an environment that emphasizes learning, development, equity and inclusion.
  • Experience working with other internal teams in cross-collaborative efforts - comfortable handling ambitious dependencies and priorities.
  • Experience with platform architecture and delivery is a plus.
  • Ready for enterprise-scale - ready for large scale problems.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet, presentation, document management, and messaging systems are a plus.
  • Open to 50% flex-hybrid reporting structure in our Boulder office


Workday Pay Transparency Statement

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Recruiters can share more detail during the hiring process. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things. Primary Location Base Pay Range: $200,000 USD - $300,000 USD


Additional US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $190,000 USD - $348,000 USD
