About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Capital Markets Accountant to support the Broker Dealer and Traded Products Group Controller team within the Corporate and Investment Banking Capital Markets group. This role requires technical knowledge, oversight, and accounting support for various highly complex trading desks including Interest Rate Management, Foreign Exchange, Commodities, Structured Products, Credit Trading, Municipal Products, or other Capital Markets products.
In addition, this role will have accounting support responsibilities for the institutional Broker-Dealer of the consolidated organization, Wells Fargo Securities, LLC, as well as other various consolidated subsidiaries of the Company.
The team is in process of increasing its technical accounting depth and bandwidth associated with significant growth in corporate initiatives. This role will be instrumental in the success of those initiatives.
In this role you will:
Act as a senior accountant for financial accounting related matters for lines of business and other control functions
Provide technical expertise regarding accounting issues, regulatory information and research, major transactions, product development and policy changes with the ability to influence management and business partners
Perform variance analytics over significant fluctuations in ledger, including data subject to external disclosure, to ensure sound financial accounting and reporting.
Communicate and adhere to practices and procedures for proper financial control functions in accordance with the company's internal controls policies
Assist with the implementation of complex projects or initiatives impacting multiple lines of business or across the enterprise including providing data for preparing and reviewing financial and regulatory reports
Serve as primary preparer on day-to-day operations including complex problem resolution and accurate timely review of work and approvals
Prepare and / or review various SEC and Regulatory Reporting submissions to ensure the completeness and accuracy of Financial Statements including preparation of various foot note disclosures
Prepare various financial close recalculations / validations, including the general ledger recognition of certain financial attributes, to support an accurate and timely close
Required Qualifications:
4+ years of Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Financial Reporting, Accounting Reporting or Risk Reporting experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
Experience performing technical accounting research and analysis including GAAP / SEC / REG
Knowledge of and understanding of the financial services industry, including traded products, loans, and derivatives
Ability to compile and review financial statements including the monthly, quarterly, and annual data sets used in various legal entities
Advanced Microsoft Office skills, specifically Excel, as well as other analytical or automation tools
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills with a history of success within a large matrixed organization
