What you'll do...
Walmart, the Fortune 1, is seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our Indirect Tax team as a Senior Manager, Tax - Indirect Tax (Audit and Controversy).
The Indirect Tax team at Walmart is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of transaction taxes charged to customers and members shopping online and at our 10,660 brick-and-mortar Walmart and Sam’s Club global locations. This team handles the subsequent reporting and remitting of indirect taxes to thousands of jurisdictions each year. The transaction scale and scope of complexity of taxation at Walmart will attract individuals who are excited to navigate undefine challenges and engaged by intellectually stimulating work.
In this role, you will:
Develop and execute audit plans for complex audits.
Respond to tax authority information document requests.
Prepare audits for protest, appeal, and litigation.
Negotiate audit results and abatement requests.
Document final audit positions and meet with key stakeholders on corrective actions.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Identify and implement process improvements to help evolve the audit function.
Perform data analysis and leverage data to optimize tax strategies.
Build strong, positive relationships with taxing authorities to resolve outstanding audit issues.
Mentor and collaborate with team members.
Collaborate with key stakeholders across the Tax organization.
Meet with business stakeholders to first understand operations across segments such as retail, transportation, ecommerce and then translate to taxing authorities.
Simplify complex tax topics and issues for internal and external stakeholders.
The Ideal Candidate has:
Audit and controversy experience underpinned by a comprehensive understanding of the tax laws and regulations of various jurisdictions.
6-10 years of indirect tax experience in sales and use tax, product tax, excise tax, transaction tax, gross receipts tax, and tax technical concepts.
Advanced degree or certification (e.g. JD, LLM, Master's Degree, CPA, or CMI) related to Taxation.
Past roles in industry (retail and/or ecommerce) and/or consulting (Big 4).
Proficiency manipulating big data and completing complex reconciliations using tax software and technology.
Strong tax research and writing skills.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
Additional compensation for certain positions may also include:
