Position Summary:
The Business Intelligence Application Developer role will be part of the Tooling & Process Automation team supporting tooling and process automation needs within MSD Central Services and MSD Field Service. This is a global role, collaborating with internal customers and colleagues to deliver impactful tools and business intelligence solutions.
The role supports Thermo Fisher Scientific’s objective to scale efficiently to the company’s 2030 vision of becoming a $50B revenue organization while contributing to its Digital Transformation.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, architect, build and maintain global business intelligence (BI) applications and solutions using multiple platforms such as Power BI, SQL, and Power Apps, guiding development from business requirements through deployment and production support.
Act as a key authority for BI solutions, with a focus on Power BI dashboards and data modeling.
Develop and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures to support BI tools and analytics.
Build partnerships with key internal customers to identify and address critical BI and automation needs, ensuring alignment with business goals while also using focusing on scalability and governance.
Drive the adoption of standard methodologies in BI, data visualization, and data governance.
Identify and evaluate new technology opportunities, particularly within the Microsoft Power Platform, focusing on how these tools can improve team capabilities and efficiency.
Lead efforts to standardize and document reference processes, best known methods (BKMs), and governance for Tooling & Process Automation.
Mentor team members in Power BI, SQL, and Power Platform, fostering knowledge transfer and continuous improvement.
Provide production support for delivered BI and automation solutions, resolving data issues, and implementing feature requests.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Management Information Systems, or a related field
Experience:
3+ years of working experience in Power BI, including dashboard creation, data modeling, and DAX formulas.
Demonstrated hands on experience in SQL for data management, query optimization, and ETL processes.
Consistent record delivering solutions on the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps and Power Automate.
Accomplished in building and maintaining cloud BI solutions, integrating data from various sources.
Solid grasp of key multi-functional operations processes with practical experience in data management and governance preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Expertise in Power BI, including data modeling, DAX programming, and interactive dashboard design.
Validated command of SQL, with experience in creating queries, stored procedures, and handling large datasets.
Proficiency in Power Apps development and Power Automate for business process automation.
Solid grasp of web-based technologies (JavaScript, CSS, HTML) to enhance BI solutions.
Ability to efficiently manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Capable of leading and mentoring peers in technical areas, such as Power BI, Power Apps, and automation standard methodologies.
