- Collaborate with design teams in all phases of product design, from the concept and architecture definition, development, validation testing, and introduction into production
- Provide design inputs and guidance in the areas of schematic and circuit board layout design for EMC, product packaging and assembly, and cable design for RF shielding
- Perform simulations like 2D & 3D as a tool for EMC design analysis and troubleshooting on aspects of RF current distribution, cavity resonance, shielding, characteristic impedance, near field and far field
- Lead EMC troubleshooting efforts
- Be the EMC subject matter expert for cross-functional teams and suppliers on EMC product risk assessment reviews, whole vehicle EMC impact from electronic modules, test results reviews
- Define specific EMC design guidelines and requirements applicable to schematic, PCB layout, electronic module assembly, and vehicle level integration
- Provide technical training to cross-functional as subject matter expert on design aspects for EMC
- Define and lead design of experiments for troubleshooting EMC Emissions and Immunity issues
- Perform EMC testing to satisfy Tesla specification and applicable regulatory requirements
- Use EMC test setups for emissions and immunity per test methods such as CISPR25, ISO-11452-2, -4, ISO-7637-2, -3, ISO-10605, IEC 61000-4-2, -3, -4, -6
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability
- 8+ years of experience on EMC and working knowledge of analog and digital electronics, including aspects such resonances, power devices switching behavior, high speed, filtering, non-ideal behavior from electrical structures, etc.
- Solid understanding of Electromagnetic theory applied to Electrical and mechanical design from PCBA to full electronic level assembly, and vehicle level
- Familiar with the use of CAD simulation tools for Electromagnetics like HFSS, CST, FEKO, etc.
- Hands-on experience in debugging radiated and conducted emissions and immunity issues and experience on performing EMC testing. Desirable EMC testing for automotive
- Hands-on experience on PCBA modifications, including soldering SMD components, and wiring harness assembly
- Working knowledge on instruments required for EMC testing such as spectrum analyzer, VNA, oscilloscope, signal generator, antenna, RF coupling clamp, near field probe, ESD simulator, etc.
- Familiar with EMC standards for EMC testing on emissions and immunity such as CISPR25, ISO-11452-2, -4, ISO-7637-2, -3, ISO-10605, IEC 61000-4-2, -3, -4, -6
- Familiar with EMC test automation software and experience on generating detailed EMC test plans and EMC test reports
- Familiar with communication protocols like CAN, LIN, Ethernet, USB for product instrumentation and communication monitoring for EMC testing and have an understanding of ISO-17025 laboratory accreditation process and maintenance is a plus

$124,000 - $186,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
