You will use your expertise with Catia and drawing on your experience in the Aluminum Diecast Industry to Design cutting edge Diecast Dies, to produce the world’s most complex and demanding Castings, allowing Tesla to develop the most innovative and cost-effective vehicles.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to gather requirements (e.g. part, rate, schedule, cost, etc.) for new die programs
- Design custom Dies, fixtures, jigs, tools, etc. as needed, provide models/drawings for fabrication
- Evaluate failures and provide technical solutions to improve quality and / or OEE in the specified area
- Perform Cast Die repairs and rebuilds
- Manage outsourced work
- Create documentation and Bill of Materials for new Die Builds
- Build out Die service books for assembly, service, water line schematics
- Create catalogue of spare parts for the Flux system
- Design and implement die designs and modifications to continuously improve die performance
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or the equivalent in experience
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant mechanical design experience
- Experience designing Die Cast tooling in CAD (Catia, Unigraphics, or SolidWorks)
- Experience designing in 2D (AutoCAD) and/or 3D (Catia/SolidWorks) environments
- Experience working in a Tool Shop producing new Diecast Dies, performing Engineering changes and Die Repair work
- Demonstrated project management abilities
