Design & Automation Engineer, Supply Chain

Tesla is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supply Chain Automation Engineer to identify, plan, and execute automation strategies across the Americas supply chain, focusing on our distribution centers (DC) network. This role requires hands-on experience in designing and implementing automation solutions, including goods-to-person systems, cobots, and warehouse execution systems integrations.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Operations, Process Engineers, Program Managers, and Training teams to drive the successful rollout of automation projects. This individual will have prior experience with companies such as Dematic, Locus Robotics, AutoStore, and GreyOrange, as well as expertise in managing RFP (Request for Proposal) processes and executing end-to-end project plans.
- Lead the identification and implementation of automation opportunities across Tesla's supply chain
- Execute RFPs for automation solutions, ensuring alignment with Tesla’s strategic objectives
- Develop and manage detailed project plans for automation rollouts, including timelines, resources, and deliverables
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Operations, Process Engineers, Program Managers, and Training to ensure smooth implementation of automation technologies
- Oversee the integration of automation systems such as goods-to-person technologies, cobots, and warehouse execution systems (WES)
- Serve as the primary liaison between Tesla and automation partners (ex. Dematic, Locus Robotics, AutoStore, GreyOrange)
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of automation initiatives, making data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement
- Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support during automation system deployment
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in designing and executing automation strategies within distribution centers (DC)
- Expertise in goods-to-person systems, cobots, and WES integrations.
- Experience with automation providers such as
- Dematic, Locus Robotics, AutoStore, and GreyOrange is preferred
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to develop detailed project plans and lead cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated ability to execute RFP processes and manage vendor relationships
