Job Summary
The Senior Manager of Technical Accounting leads complex accounting research and provides expert guidance on significant transactions, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements. This role consults across business units to address technical accounting issues, develops accounting policies, and prepares impairment assessments and annual reports. With a focus on new and emerging standards, the Senior Manager collaborates with external auditors, drafts technical memos, and supports high stakes transactions, bringing strategic insight to the company's financial reporting.

Responsibilities/Skills/Experience Requirements
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Engages with external auditors, drafting comprehensive technical accounting memos that support the company s positions and conclusions, demonstrating independent thought and technical acumen
- Provides targeted support to external auditors, using technical expertise to address complex queries and ensure efficient audit processes
- Oversees the preparation and review of annual reports, ensuring that financial statements and footnotes comply with U.S. GAAP, and utilizes the Annual Disclosure Checklist to confirm complete regulatory adherence
- Leads consultations and resolves complex technical accounting matters across all business units and service lines, covering critical areas such as revenue recognition for service contracts, real estate and debt transactions, lease accounting, and stock options, leveraging expert judgment to inform and guide business decisions
- Analyzes and interprets accounting implications for debt transactions, stock options, related party transactions, and carve-out financial statements, providing senior management with clear, actionable insights
- Prepares and assesses impairments of intangible and long-lived assets, applying technical knowledge and discretion to evaluate asset recoverability and ensure compliance
- Develops, reviews, and refines accounting policies to ensure alignment with current standards and best practices, exercising discretion in policy implementation and updates
- Proactively monitors new and emerging accounting and reporting standards, analyzing their implications on the company s financial reporting and independently developing strategies to integrate required changes
- Manages and contributes to significant transactions, including spin-offs, rights offerings, and business combinations, by researching technical accounting impacts, overseeing related filings, and coordinating the preparation and audit of carve-out financial statements
- Leads or manages special accounting projects as needed, applying strategic judgment to advance organizational objectives and ensure effective project outcomes
- Conducts accounting research on complex technical matters in line with U.S. GAAP, including SEC disclosure requirements, to provide strategic guidance on significant, unique, or high-impact transactions
- Bachelors Degree
- 5-10 years of related experience
- License/certification in relevant field
- 18 years of age or older
- Bachelor s degree in Accounting
- Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- 6-8 years accounting and financial reporting knowledge and experience including public accounting experience
- Must be current with respect to knowledge of accounting and reporting issues (FASB, etc.)
- Strong analytical and research skills, including the ability to understand complex accounting rules
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) are necessary to communicate complex accounting issues to non-accounting personnel in an understandable, efficient manner
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
