Role and Responsibilities
We are looking for a senior leader to lead the data engineering team. The mission of the team is to enable data driven decisions within Samsung. You will champion the team for the adoption and accuracy of existing products as well as developing new pipelines and data based solutions. You will drive the vision, strategy and execution of this platform.
You will be responsible for data engineering and the data pipelines that is pivotal to Samsung success in the US. You will dive deep into the details of the business, operations, and engineering. We need technical, hands-on leaders who can build and grow organizations. You’ll need to excel at hiring and developing a team of strong data engineers. Our services operate at large scale and on critical workloads, so a passion and discipline around operational excellence are key. You’ll also need to be willing to share big ideas and execute to deliver the next big innovations at rapid pace. You will be expected to take a data driven approach in defining/measuring platform/operation success.
This person should be able to demonstrate strong technical expertise and people management skills. This includes strong communication and analytical skills with a thorough understanding of product development and successful problem definition, decomposition, estimation, and resolution. You will collaborate with other senior engineering and operational leaders to ensure standards are defined and rapidly adopted including but not limited to -
Specific responsibilities include:
- Accountable for the digital platform and analytics success, from strategic design all the way to framework development and daily operations.
- Provide product and technical direction within the organization.
- Hands-on experience defining digital capability and providing business insightful analytics at scale.
- Build strong partnership with business teams with aligned requirement, roadmap, launch plan and ensure ultimate digital launch success.
- Work with the business teams in building new data ingestion pipelines & Business intelligence dashboards in high availability and high scale environments.
- Accountable for the analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.
- Define and champion data engineering & BI engineering best practices.
- Coach, supervise and mentor staff of professional analysts, engineers, and managers
- Work with stakeholders including the Executives, Product and business teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs
- Work with other infrastructure teams to ensure platform stability and meet Samsung security requirement.
- Technical liaison with technology vendors and integration partners.

- Successfully communicate product roadmap, business plan, impact/result cross organization including with senior leadership.
Background & Competencies Required:
- 12+ years of experience in delivering high available and high scalable digital capabilities and business analytics success.
- 5+ years of demonstrated success in digital or analytics space at leadership level.
- 5+ years of experience in leading product or analytics strategy, roadmap, prioritization in sales, marketing, ecommerce, digital spaces.
- Demonstrated success in building partnership both internally and externally.
- Demonstrated success in communication cross organization and executive forums.
- Industry expertise of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
- Experience in building high availability large scale data pipelines in AWS platform.
- Expertise in managing reporting function including producing KPIs and Dashboards, publishing through multiple channels
- Deep insights on how enterprises use and misuse data effectively; Is up to date and passionate about the rapidly changing technology stack as it pertains to data management and the explosive growth of unstructured data.
- •5+ years of experience in leading team, hiring top notch candidates, grow talents and manage team performance.
- •B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or Engineering

The salary range for this role, for candidates based in California, is expected to be between $265,500 and $294,000. Actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role.
