About the role:
We are seeking an experienced content marketer with strong storytelling skills and an analytical mindset. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and scaling our research report program—keeping tabs on industry trends, commissioning surveys on newsworthy topics, and working cross-functionally to translate data insights into compelling multimedia reports for our audience of customers, prospects, and media.
The right candidate for this role is an exceptional writer with a passion for turning complex data into captivating content. Proven experience creating successful research reports or other data-driven multimedia content is required, as well as strong cross-functional collaboration, project management, and communication skills.

In this role you will:
- Help scale our research report and data storytelling programs, supporting the development of multiple research reports and data stories per year in partnership with a cross-functional team. Support topic selection, internal alignment, survey questionnaire development, vendor management, timeline management, content creation, review, approvals, publication, distribution, and impact measurement.
- Keep a pulse on industry news and trends that impact physical operations, indentifying novel ways to use data (either proprietary data or third-party survey data) to differentiate Samsara as a thought leader with a unique POV.
- Capture the attention of an enterprise, executive audience through creative collaboration with design; communicate complex concepts with clarity and concision.
- Act as a strategic cross-functional leader, partnering with dozens of stakeholders across functions and regions to drive alignment, manage interdependencies, and create and deliver on timelines.
- Distribute and amplify research reports and data stories you produce in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders and channel owners.
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs). Regularly measure and report on the impact of your work and the broader program.
- Keep a high bar for the integrity and quality of content you write and review, ensuring consistency with our brand style guide, voice, and tone.
- Support other priority Content Marketing programs, including customer storytelling, throughout the year.
- Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, and Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.
Minimum Requirements for this role:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or a related field.
- 5-7+ years of proven content marketing experience, with at least 1+ year creating research reports or data stories. Must have experience turning data insights, either from internal or third-party sources, into compelling multimedia content.
- Stellar communication and project management skills, with experience leading cross-functional projects and facilitating alignment across many stakeholders.
- Ability to independently drive content creation from end to end, including managing internal approvals, timelines, and third-party vendors.
- Meticulous attention to detail with proven copywriting, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Samples of interactive and engaging marketing materials such as reports, web page content, e-books, blog posts, case studies, videos, infographics, emails, etc.
- Strong work ethic, team-player mentality, and experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment managing multiple workstreams end-to-end.
- Experience using analytics to determine the impact and effectiveness of content programs. Preferred experience with content and web analytics tools (such as Google Analytics and Salesforce)
An Ideal Candidate Also has:
- Experience with content management systems such as Contentful.
- Knowledge of SEO best practices and experience with SEO tools such as Ahrefs or Clearscope.
Samsara’s Compensation Philosophy: Samsara’s compensation program is designed to deliver Total Direct Compensation (based on role, level, and geography) that is at or above market. We do this through our base salary + bonus/variable + restricted stock unit awards (RSUs) for eligible roles. For eligible roles, a new hire RSU award may be awarded at the time of hire, and additional RSU refresh grants may be awarded annually.
We pay for performance, and top performers in eligible roles may receive above-market equity refresh awards which allow employees to achieve higher market positioning.
