A Systems Engineer is needed for a major U.S. defense contractor and industrial corporation with core manufacturing concentrations in weapons and military and commercial electronics in the Windsor Locks, CT area. The Systems Engineer will support the full lifecycle of spaceflight hardware development for the Dragonfly mission by managing system requirements, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring design, verification, and compliance standards are met.

responsibilities:
- Support the design, development, verification & validation, and operational support of spaceflight hardware.
- Interface with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to:
- Understand technical needs
- Negotiate assumptions, exceptions, and changes
- Understand technical needs
- Document and manage system requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
- Perform requirements validation, and allocate/derive lower-level requirements.
- Capture and maintain requirements traceability and rationale.
- Manage requirements changes, compliance documentation, and associated risks.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, Systems, or Electrical Engineering.
- 8-20 years of relevant engineering experience.
- strong leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and within an Integrated Product Development (IPD) team.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- strong writing and math skills.
- Experience with hardware development programs, including proposal, design, manufacturing, and verification stages.
- Familiarity with NASA-based requirements and standards.
- Broad technical engineering knowledge relevant to spaceflight hardware, including:
- Performance
