Senior Software Development Manager (Customer Identity)

Durham (Hybrid - 3 Days Per Week In Office)

Job Summary: As a Senior Software Manager specializing in Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM), you will lead a team responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing identity solutions that support millions of users. This role requires in-depth knowledge of Identity Platforms, a strong background in customer identity management, and the ability to align technology strategies with business goals. You will work closely with product, Devops, security, and other engineering teams to ensure our CIAM solutions provide exceptional customer experiences with a high standard of privacy and security.

The position would require a strategic vision for identity management, and strong team leadership. This role demands both the technical depth to drive platform scalability and innovation and the people skills to manage and mentor a high-performing engineering team.

This is an opportunity to drive a key innovation curve, implementing new technologies at a high exposure and leading large teams at scale.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership & Strategy:

  2. Lead and mentor a high performing team of software engineers focused on CIAM development and deployment.

  3. Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define and implement a strategic vision for customer identity solutions.

  4. Oversee the full lifecycle of CIAM projects, from conception through implementation and post-deployment support.

  5. Technical Expertise:

  6. Drive the design and development of customer identity solutions using ForgeRock's Identity Platform, including components like ForgeRock Identity Gateway, Access Management, and Directory Services.

  7. Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and data privacy requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).

  8. Mentor team Development with best practices to Install, integrate, configure, and deploy IAM solutions and systems to facilitate User Life-Cycle Management, Identity and Access Governance, Automated Provisioning, Single Sign-On, Federation, Privileged Account Management

  9. Evaluate and integrate third-party solutions and tools as needed to enhance functionality, scalability, and security.

  10. Innovation & Improvement:

  11. Stay up to date on the latest trends and advancements in CIAM, IAM, and security best practices.

  12. Identify areas of improvement within the CIAM system, proposing and implementing innovative solutions to enhance user experience and streamline authentication processes.

  13. Develop and track KPIs related to user experience, security, and CIAM performance.

  14. Project & Stakeholder Management:

  15. Manage timelines, resources, and budget to ensure timely delivery of CIAM projects.

  16. Communicate project progress, risks, and resolutions to executive stakeholders.

  17. Collaborate with product and UX teams to continuously refine the customer authentication journey.

Qualifications:

  • Previous software development experience with experience in a management role

  • Proven experience with CIAM and IAM solutions, ideally ForgeRock (AM, IDM, DS, IG).

  • Deep knowledge of authentication protocols (OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML) and encryption standards.

  • Strong understanding of security and privacy regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, etc.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and DevOps tools.

  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.

  • Experience in user experience (UX) design principles related to authentication flows.

  • Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Docker, Kubernetes) for streamlined deployment and scalability of identity services.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience with ForgeRock OpenAM 6.5 Technology ForgeRock OpenAM 7

  • Experience in designing and implementing SSO, Passwordless and MFA implementations

  • Knowledge of microservices architecture and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) to manage and scale identity solutions efficiently.
