The Sr. Manager of Nordstrom Inventory Positioning (IP) supports this commitment by ensuring the initial placement of inventory optimizes the customer experience by making the right product available to customers at the right time and in the right locations.

This individual drives planning and execution of inventory placement strategies in alignment with “Closer to You” customer goals, partnering with key stakeholders across Merchandising, Operations and Stores. They will lead the execution of Inventory Positioning capabilities, driving efficiencies in allocations through automation, and actioning Merch aligned and data-driven placement decisions that elevate the Nordstrom customer experience whilst enabling the achievement of JWN financial goals.

A day in the life……

  • Achieve balanced Nordstrom Stores inventories across all inventory sources, coordinating execution of initial placement strategies in alignment with Merchandising goals, location receipt and inventory plans, and customer expectations.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key leaders across Merchandising, Operations, and Stores to collaboratively bring merchandising strategies to life. Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations that align with business objectives and customer needs. Monitor and adjust strategies to maintain healthy inventories before, during, and after events.

  • Deeply understand the business landscape, including market trends, customer behaviors, and competitive dynamics. Utilize this knowledge to provide strategic recommendations that drive business growth and enhance the customer experience.

  • Identify opportunities to improve business outcomes by participating in weekly and monthly business reviews, offering tactical input and strategic context. Focus team efforts on high-impact priorities that drive positive outcomes for both the customer and the business.

  • Work closely with Product Management and Technology teams to integrate new inventory and merchandising data capabilities into business practices. Advocate for the adoption of advanced tools and systems that enhance decision-making and operational efficiency.

  • Build and empower a high-performing team by fostering a collaborative and empowering team environment. Focus on developing team members’ skills and competencies in strategic thinking, managing complexity, and driving business results.

Fast forward a year, where will you be?

You will have supported a 10+-person team that successfully positioned inventory for a subset of Merchandising Divisions & Sub-divisions, across a fleet of ~93 stores, delivering receipts and inventory in consistent alignment with customer needs and JWN financial outcomes. Step change improvements made in Allocator efficiency and work quality through increased automation, optimized processes, better insights and data-driven positioning decisions. Lastly, you are seen as a trusted and reliable partner to leaders across functions and levels as a result of your demonstrating a balanced approach to team support, customer focus, and proactive risk management.

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.

Washington: $126,500 - $210,000 AnnuallyThis position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401k, medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, Holidays, and more. Eligibility requirements may apply based on location, job level, classification, and length of employment.
