Scope of this role
We seek a detail-oriented, highly analytical Commercial Finance Manager to join our finance team supporting the Gracenote business. The Commercial Finance Manager will manage another team member and help stand up the new commercial policy and partnership with the sales team. They will be responsible for ensuring pricing remediation actions are implemented where needed, policy adherence, pricing upside generated and overall deal desk performance. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of sales processes and deal structures, deal desk experience, data analytics skills, and excellent communication abilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead deal desk finance team for Gracenote business, planning overall team’s capacity and overseeing their activities, including:
  • Performance tracking against KPI’s and OKR’s on deal desk tracking: discount approvals, price uplift, churn, implementation of milestones, etc.
  • Develop deal desk policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure consistency and adherence across the commercial org.
  • Identify potential risks, issues and inconsistencies in deals and provide recommendations for resolution.
  • Partner with finance and controllership on contract language structures and accounting policy
  • Facilitate building of the deal desk proposals and present findings to leadership.
  • Lead and collaborate with finance, sales, pricing, legal and other cross-functional teams to gather necessary information and ensure deal accuracy.
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, promoting effective communication and collaboration.
  • Drive continuous improvement of the Deal Desk function and promoting automation efforts using CRM and data analytics tools

A Little About You:

  • A successful Commercial Finance Manager will be detail-oriented, and have a strong analytical mind with the ability to identify and strengthen areas of business risks and capitalize on opportunities in the company (FP&A Organization). They should help forecast the right numbers and help achieve and report those. They should also drive synergy across all processes and ensure standardization and adaptability with the latest company priorities. This requires a lot of diligence and an attitude to take on new tasks with a solution mindset.
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivated work style, attention to detail, effective communicator.
  • Ability to organize multiple responsibilities and deliver results in an accurate and timely manner while adapting to changes in priorities.
  • Ability to influence and strategically partner with individuals of various educational and technical backgrounds, both inside and outside the organization.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to gather, analyze, and present data.
  • Ability to business partner and communicate with non-finance stakeholders effectively and articulately.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of urgency and follow-up skills

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field.
  • Prior Commercial Finance FP&A Experience required (5-7 years minimum); ideally experienced communicating directly with senior stakeholders.
  • Background in advertising-technology and/or information services industry is beneficial; expertise in measuring and reporting software / recurring revenue metrics is preferred.
  • Experience in financial management, strategic thinking, commercial and business intuition, reporting, accounting, business partnering, communication, and storytelling; knowledge of CRM tools preferred.
  • Ability to develop constructive relationships with executives and colleagues across the organization.
  • Experience with analytics tools such as Salesforce, Google Data Studio, and spreadsheet tools (excel, Google Sheets) is required

A reasonable estimate of salary range for a new employee to be offered this role would be between $66,000-$225,000 which would be adjusted based on each employee's geographic location. The position of each employee within a compensation range at Nielsen is dependent on several individual circumstances, such as experience, training, certifications and other business requirements/needs
