Overview
Are you passionate about making devices and technologies that work safely, efficiently, and seamlessly to achieve amazing things? If you love challenges, have a passion for creating safe innovative consumer electronic products, and have exemplary program management skills, we want you to join Microsoft’s devices organization.
Microsoft’s consumer hardware teams consist of progressive, diverse, and exceptionally creative professionals who design, test and manufacture some of the best-loved devices in the world. Our teams ship tens of millions of hardware products every year across the Xbox and Surface product lines. The Product Safety team, as part of the Devices Quality organization, strives to make sure all new products are safe, identifying potential hazards and assessing the associated risk. Our shared mission is to make sure all devices are safe, with no surprises.
The Product Safety team is seeking an experienced Product Safety Hardware Engineer who will be responsible for driving the end-to-end safety of our consumer hardware products, from conceptual design and component or material selection, to assembly and repair. As a subject matter expert on safety risk assessment, you will champion the identification, implementation, and continuous monitoring and improvement of safety critical parameters and processes (i.e. battery integration, material assessments, process qualification and validation, and change management), and provide effective guidance to development teams when faced with a design choice, a bug, or a field failure.
We are looking for a passionate, curious, and high-energy individual with a passion for creating innovative hardware products and ensuring that all product safety requirements are met, while always looking at the big picture and providing clear, timely, and effective guidance to internal and externals stakeholders. We see this as a dynamic role as it will not be dedicated to a single project, device, or technology; by having access to multiple product lines, it will allow you to substantially expand your expertise in product safety and risk management, hone your communication and negotiation skills, and become a trusted SME. This role is based in our Taipei office, and you can work up to 50% from home.
Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond. In alignment with our Microsoft values, we are committed to cultivating an inclusive work environment for all employees to positively impact our culture every day.
