The Microsoft Strategy and Investment Optimization (MSIO) finance team is an exciting and fast-evolving team at the forefront of Microsoft’s Cloud-first strategy. This role is at the center of the Product Gross Margin Strategy to help build great cloud, Artificial Intelligence (AI) services while influencing business models, levers to continuously drive gross margin growth and accelerate path to north star goal.

As a crucial member of the team, you will also support long term bets and drive competitive intelligence to keep Microsoft Cloud ahead of competition and lead the AI platform wave, safeguarding shareholder interest.

We are looking for a Senior Finance Manager - AI Business Health to join the Gross Margin financial planning and analysis team focused on the AI business portfolio. The role will expand the depth of analysis for AI gross margin performance and be responsible for developing crisp actionable insights for leadership and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

Minimum / Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field
    • OR Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field
    • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated ability to form and influence cross-functional partnerships to deliver

high-value projects both as an individual and through v-teams with business partnering skills

• Demonstrated analytical skills and strategic thinking

• Proven data and financial modeling capabilities and ability to work with financial

systems

• Ability to communicate complex analysis in a simple way. Executive level oral and

written communication skills.

• Proven leadership skills, with demonstrated results in proactively driving and

delivering high value/high-impact project results through both individual and v-team efforts.

• Ability to drive best-in-class decision support in ambiguous environments. Partnering capabilities, with the ability to influence others without direct authority and appropriately push back when required.

• Deep understanding of the technology industry, particularly commercial public and private cloud services, business models and economics preferred

• Comfort working at multiple altitudes, from strategic/high-level projects to detailed Cost of Goods (COGS) analysis

• Ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines, quickly prioritize for impact and the resourcefulness to deliver

Financial Analysis IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,600 - $183,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $122,000 - $200,500 per year.

Responsibilities

• Thought leadership to understand AI Graphics Processing Units (GPU) investment cost-in economics and implement cost attribution across different business unit PnLs based on principles, operational drivers to drive usage transparency, Return on Investment (ROI) accountability.

• Own analysis, insights on GPU utilization, usage costs across all businesses to

influence demand / supply plans and influence end customer pricing.

• Own monthly and quarterly financial, operational GM reviews (close, forecast,

budget) with finance and engineering executives , clearly communicating results and

recommendations to senior business leaders across the AI, WebXT and Consumer businesses.
