Microsoft Advertising team (part of Microsoft AI) is responsible for driving tens of billions in revenue by placing highly relevant ads across Bing, Edge, Windows, MSN, Copilot and other Microsoft Services. We design, develop, and operate a global ads marketplace that has a double-digit annual growth rate.

We are looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer who can help us build highly scalable, highly performant services which host state of the art machine learning models. Your work will touch many components of our stack, from service responsible for communicating with our Advertising partners to building extensible infrastructure. You will also be responsible for defining and writing SDKs for interfacing with our APIs, designing and developing large scale data pipelines for model training.

This is a rare opportunity to influence technology development in an important growth area at Microsoft. You will design, implement, analyze and tune complex algorithms operating on large datasets in collaboration with top scientists and engineers across Microsoft AI organization.

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage large scale data pipelines for model training.
  • Collaborate, socialize, and drive cross-team technical initiatives with our ML team and our Advertising partners.
  • Develop Azure based cloud applications.
  • Architect and build low latency and high throughput system.
  • Design APIs for client and partners integration.
  • Participate in design and code reviews.
  • Mentor engineers in the team.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java or JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience working on low latency high throughput online applications
  • 2+ years of experience developing and maintaining large scale data pipelines
  • 1+ years of experience working on Kubernetes

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.

These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
