A Day in the Life
Are you looking to drive strategic cost improvement initiatives for the leader in the Medical Technology industry? As a core manager of the Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) team supporting Strategy and Technology, you will have responsibility for driving a team to complete feasibility, planning and execution of value engineering projects that drive innovation, standardization, value creation and cost improvements across the entire portfolio of Medtronic products. You will utilize your robust project management skills to guide your team members in robust roadmaps, timelines, goals, and budgets. Each project managed in VAVE is critical to delivering on our strategic savings targets and ensuring the team is well positioned to drive continued value creation opportunities. You will be at the forefront of Medtronic’s Mission to Alleviate Pain, Restore Health, and Extend Life by improving our capability to deliver life-saving products and support new product innovation.This role can be based at any Medtronic location within North America
Manage a team of program managers working on value creation projects from detailed planning through execution while meeting delivery, quality and cost goals
Lead projects directly by working with cross functional teams including design, quality, operations, category management to ensure successful completion of projects and business goals
Work actively with business, sites, contract manufacturing and key strategic suppliers to meet project timing and milestones
Develop, communicate, and document project strategies and plans including budget, detailed schedule creation/maintenance, and KPIs
A key responsibility of roles in this career stream is managing people. which includes: accountability for mentoring, developing and coaching staff on meeting/exceeding performance expectations and defined objectives, providing leadership to staff ensuring the prioritization of strategic and department level initiatives to include defining performance goals and targets, conducting performance reviews, and staff 1:1s to guide performance management and employee development efforts and manage toward departmental goals
Must Haves
Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of Business Process, Engineering Program Management and/or Project Management experience OR advanced degree and 5+ years of experience
Nice to Have
People management experience
Advanced Degree
PMP Certification
Experience leading projects/programs including financial accountability
Experience working with suppliers and/or contract manufacturers
Financial management skills
Experience leading cross functional teams
Medical Device industry experience
Demonstrated strong business acumen and planning experience
Strong communication skills (written, verbal, listening (with all levels of the organization)
Strong problem-solving skills
Comfortable to work with unknowns and developing roadmaps
Ability to influence business leaders, stakeholders and individual contributors
MS Project software experience
Ability to travel occasionally
