A Day in the Life

Location: Preferably at a Medtronic Location, but remote work is considered. Other remote locations will be considered for candidates within commuting distance of a Medtronic site. This position follows a hybrid work schedule, being on-site in the office 3-4 days a week.

The Operations Innovations Finance team is looking for a Principal Financial Analyst who will primarily focus on business partnering within a Strategic Program within the organization. This role provides unique experiences such as being part of a global team, collaborating with business partners throughout the company, and gaining visibility to senior and executive leadership while gaining insights into various processes and functions across Medtronic.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide decision support to the leadership of the Operations Innovation strategic program, becoming a subject matter expert regarding all strategic processes.

  • Supporting cross-functional project teams with scenario modelling, NPV/ROI analysis, and strategic recommendations.

  • Drive/Implement/Support continuous improvements in the reporting processes enabling focus on value creation activities

  • Support the annual planning and quarterly forecasting processes.

  • Ensure Non-Gaap compliance rules and controls are actively working

  • Support Cost Center planning (i.e. Resources, Investments, Projects, Capital)

  • Drive the monthly/quarterly fiduciary reporting of OPC results, cost down metrics and capital investments.

  • Support presentations of financial results at MOR, business reviews and Global Townhall meetings to senior leadership as well as the larger business partner base.

Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires mastery of a specialty area and full knowledge of industry practices, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.


May have broad knowledge of project management. Bachelor’s Degree with 7+ years of work experience in Finance and/or Accounting (Or Advanced Degree with 5+ years)

Nice to Have

  • Process standardization

  • Expertise in Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel modeling experience and PowerPoint. This includes creating pivot tables, VLOOKUPS, SUMIFS, NPV/IRR, and other complex functions.

  • Experience operating in a complex matrixed environment and interacting across levels and organizations.

  • Good judgment, problem-solving skills, tact, and discretion in identifying and resolving issues within established guidelines.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and influence management skills.

  • Experience dealing with ambiguity.

  • MBA or Advanced Degree.

  • Operations Finance experience.

  • Cost Accounting experience.

  • Knowledge of SAP and Hyperion.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$108,000.00 - $162,000.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
