Job Description
Provide engineering oversight for critical infrastructure systems at Mayo Clinic including but are not limited to the mechanical systems (chilled water, steam, potable water, HVAC, medical gases, sprinkler, piping and plumbing), electrical systems (normal and emergency power distribution, lighting and signal), energy management, building re-commissioning, and systems that provide automated building control functions, security access and surveillance, a variety of alarming and annunciating functions, fire identification and suppression, emergency communications, These systems are typically very complex, span a large portion of the Mayo Clinic campus and represent large capital investments. The ability to evaluate these large complex systems from an unbiased viewpoint for future expansion and upgrades is necessary. This is accomplished by applying engineering expertise to evaluate the performance of existing infrastructure systems, project their remaining useful life, develop and maintain systems specifications, evaluate existing and emerging related technologies, develop proposals for the upgrade or replacement of existing systems, serve as a content expert during funding committee presentations, oversee the implementation and commissioning processes, provide project design/developers with design input and coordinate approved prototype testing and evaluations of infrastructure systems.
Energy Engineering:
- Maintain enterprise utility data and reporting.
- Review data for accuracy and potential performance gaps.
- Support Recommissioning activities.
- Identify and develop potential energy saving strategies and projects across the enterprise working closely with site leaders and staff.
- Review energy management program and strategy to ensure alignment with Mayo Clinic organizational values and strategic plan.
Reliability Engineering:
- Track system and equipment failures/issues and find ways to increase uptime and/or reduce maintenance costs. Manage risk to the organization as it relates to asset capability, efficiency, and overall performance. Has a clear understanding of reliability centered maintenance and facilitates discussions with maintenance staff to educated and continuously improve in the area of reliability centered maintenance.
- Support the life cycle management process for all assets operated and maintained by Facilities Management. This includes involvement from concept design and implementation of new assets to modification and/or replacement of existing assets.
Senior Systems Engineer will provide mentoring and oversight to Associate and Systems Engineers.
