Systems Modeling Engineer, Efficiency and Performance

We are currently seeking a talented and passionate Systems Modeling Engineer to join the Efficiency, Performance, and Systems team. The primary responsibility of this role is to develop, validate, and utilize models of physical systems in the vehicle, to address design and performance questions. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches their work with vigor and determination. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly, and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
· Develop and maintain system models to solve mechanical, electrical, and thermal problems in electric vehicles.
· Build tools to support the pre-processing of simulation parameters and the post-processing of simulation results.
· Analyze the effect of changing parameters on the behavior of single components and complete systems.
· Collaborate with multiple engineering departments to understand physics, create models, and collect parameters for system level modeling.
· Couple the effects of different systems in an EV, including motor, gearbox, inverter, battery, charger, chassis, cooling, HVAC, and controls.
· Perform CFD simulations on HVAC and thermal system components and subsystems.
· Collaborate with vehicle testing teams to instrument vehicles and carry on tests to correlate and validate models.
Required Qualifications:
· Passion for problem-solving, and curiosity to learn
· Expertise in modeling and simulation.
· Deep understanding of physics and modeling techniques.
· Excellent communication skills in both technical and non-technical environments.
· Ability to work cross-functionally with hardware, software, and test teams.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Highly Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience with commercial CFD software.
· Experience and passion for hands-on work.
· Experience and knowledge of electric vehicles including batteries, drive units, motor control, and power electronics.
· Fundamental knowledge in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and energy systems.
· Experience in HVAC and comfort modeling.
Education:
· Bachelor's degree with some experience or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
