Senior Engineer, Battery Algorithms

We are currently seeking a Senior Engineer, Battery Algorithms. This position requires an individual with a strong background in battery control and algorithms, modeling, and battery chemistries. You Will:
- Work in a dynamic, cross-functional team to advance our cutting-edge battery management features
- Contribute to our world-acclaimed battery product for mass-market passenger vehicles and energy products
- Design and develop high quality battery controls to ensure safety and performance of vehicle battery packs in real time
- Design and develop accurate and robust battery algorithms and models such as state of charge, state of energy, state of health to optimize vehicle performance and customer experience
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as controls, battery cells, embedded software, system engineering, vehicle integration teams to define requirements and perform integration testing
- Verify software using unit test and hardware-in-the-loop test framework
- Debug the hardware and software time critical issues utilizing debugging tools
- Support the Battery Software department with additional duties/tasks as needed.
You Bring:
- 5+ years of experience in developing battery controls and algorithms
- Knowledge of battery chemistries such as LFP and NMC
- Experience with battery management systems and EV powertrain
- Experienced with model-based software design and development tools
- Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and C/C++
Advantageous:
- Knowledge of vehicle controls such as motor, onboard charger, and thermal systems
- Knowledge of electrochemistry and battery modeling
- Good understanding of automotive functional safety standards like ISO 26262
- Knowledge of automotive communication protocols such as Automotive Ethernet and CAN
- Working knowledge of AUTOSAR
Education Requirements:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or other related fields, MS and PhD preferred
