Sr. Materials Industrialization Engineer, Metals (Casting/Extrusions)

We are currently seeking a motivated Sr. Materials Engineer with focus on metallic materials and at least of the metallurgical processes including casting, extrusion and forging. This is a key role to industrialize materials and manufacturing processes across the supply chain and to contribute, promote and drive best-in-class product quality through the various stages of product development process. This is a high-performance role that would have significant visibility to both within and outside the organization, and will require technical expertise, passion, interpersonal skills to collaborate and influence outcomes, work through complexity and fast- paced environment, and establishing credibility with peers and senior management.
You Will:
- Responsible as subject matter expert in industrializing metallics parts and processes (Casting, Extrusion, Forging) across different commodities during and after vehicle development programs.
- Support cross functional teams in in-depth understanding of the manufacturing process, tooling, material performance and optimization plan to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness.
- Standardize Lucid Qualification Process (LQP) for metallic commodities.
- Partner closely with the supplier industrialization, engineering, production, and other stake holders on root cause investigating materials-related issues and continuous improvement with the suppliers.
- Provide insight into future chances and obstacles for streamlining processes; suggest strategies for innovative and cost-efficient solutions.
- Conduct on demand supplier process audits to assess technical capabilities in delivering best in class materials and highly efficient processes.
- Supporting supplier industrialization engineering team in launch activities and change implementations.
- Collaborate in DFMEA, DVPR, DFQ/DFM reviews and validation as subject matter expert.
You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related fields. Higher degrees highly preferred.
- 5+ years industrial experience in metallurgical manufacturing or processing environment. Automotive industry experience is preferred.
- Solid understanding of Metals and Alloys, Processing (Casting, Extrusion, Forging), tooling validation and testing methods.
- Experience in developing tooling validation plan and optimization of manufacturing process parameters.
- Solid understanding of statistical process control, data analysis and data driven decision making.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and strong ability to work in cross-functional teams.
- Ability and desire to work in high paced work environment is highly valued.
- Ability to travel up to 30% of the work schedule.
