Job Description
Primary Function Of Position
The Senior Strategy Manager serves in a strategic and tactical capacity, and in partnership with various business units and enabling functions (product, commercial, research, business development, Ventures, GAVE, clinical, regulatory, etc.), assesses and supports the future and current needs of the company. The Senior Strategy Manager will also collaborate broadly across Intuitive’s functional groups and business units, with a particular focus on white-space unmet clinical needs. This role will report to the VP of Corporate Strategy.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Initiate and drive portfolio and commercial efforts that will expand Intuitive’s business boundaries to create future value. Key intellectual partner / resource to explore and debate concepts and themes. Ability to effectively represent the Strategy organization to internal and external stakeholders.
- Create work plans and project manage their strategic initiatives including business model exploration, Platform development, portfolio and clinical strategy with a 4-10 year horizon, etc.
- Identify, gather and analyze external research for use in business opportunity assessment. Identify and partner with thought-leading/relevant analogues with which Intuitive can learn from or engage. Based on output collaborate with VP Strategy on course of action.
- General activities include keeping their projects on track, identify required resources, support team meetings, minutes, etc.
- Build relationships and collaborate with key business functions. Become a trusted and valued business partner focused on portfolio strategy and promoting the vision of the Strategy team.
- Model and champion Intuitive Surgical’s principles and culture and value set in your actions language and results. Focus on the “vital few” that allows for enhancing customer’s value.
Qualifications
Skill, Experience, Education & Training:
- At least ten (10) years of experience in the medical technology/healthcare industry; demonstrated success in a high-growth research environment.
- Minimum Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant technical field (engineering, clinical medicine, etc.) required.
- In-depth knowledge of clinical medicine, primarily surgical care, and demonstrated ability to interpret clinical evidence preferred.
- Solid financial and fundamental analysis capability of healthcare (medical technology) companies preferred.
- Broad understanding of hospital operations, economics, reimbursement, regulatory and healthcare trends preferred.
- Ability to build relationships and influence key stakeholders. Entrepreneurial spirit that leads and motivates people to action. Drive organizational focus on priorities and operate effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent project management skills, attention to detail and follow through required.
- Intellectual curiosity and strong learning ability.
- Ability to travel up to 20% travel

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications.
