Job Overview

The Senior Business Systems Analyst is a functional role (not an IT position) in the Finance Corporate Accounting organization playing a key role working across Finance functional teams, the fintech organization, and other various business units. 60% of this role is business and process oriented whereas the other 40% is more technical. As an individual contributor, the business systems analyst in this role will be responsible for ensuring the success of delivering finance requirements when the business is delivering functional or offering changes; in-depth content knowledge is required to define scenarios and complete testing validations. In addition, they will be responsible for daily operations of running the business within the Fintech Accounting function. Given the pace of fintech, the ideal candidate for this role can gracefully operate in concurrent efforts and quickly switch between tasks.

This position will require the ability to concurrently operate within multiple projects and daily operations. Within the Finance processes, the primary focus of this position is Fintech processes (products generally defined as Intuit moving money on behalf of its customers). Many of the systems in scope are proprietary service based systems supporting our Payments, Payroll, Capital and Banking products.

The individual in this role must have comprehensive systems requirements and testing experience in Accounting or Financial functional processes and fintech systems; and strong communication skills. The person in this role will be responsible for ensuring that finance functionality delivered works as expected alongside the functionality the business is delivering. This individual must have good business sense, be an independent thinker, be a driver, a team player and partner, be able to communicate clearly, work effectively with diverse groups, and be skillful with quantitative/qualitative analytical methodologies and tools.

Responsibilities

  • Scope - This individual will partner with business stakeholder groups to understand scope of platform capability releases and business driven initiatives that impact the Finance Money Movement group. This role works directly with the various business and functional stakeholders to understand where Finance involvement is required. Responsible for collaborating with Finance Process Architects to obtain a knowledge transfer then effectively apply learnings to deliver Finance functional requirements to the platform(s).
  • Test Coverage – The person will work with IT and Finance teams to ensure the test scope coverage is complete and tests are executed correctly. This role will work with process architects and Finance process owners to review results of tests to ensure system is working as designed and to ensure that deadlines are met and that the Finance requirements are implemented efficiently and effective.
  • Test Validations – This individual possesses a deep understanding of the business processes and the technology platform that enables it. The candidate should be able to effectively identify defects within the delivered functionality, while applying technical and business process expertise.
  • Entrance & Exit of Testing Phases – This person will work with stakeholders to ensure the system is performing as designed, prior to providing approval to release to production, and is responsible for working through roadblocks that prevent Finance from signing off on a test cycle.
  • Change Management and Communication – drive overall change management to Finance stakeholders throughout the software lifecycle development process with a goal of ‘no surprises’ for stakeholders; the ideal person for this role has excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and can understand risk and business impact to make appropriate prioritization and tradeoff recommendations.
  • Project Management/Project Status –This person will have the capabilities to manage multiple concurrent projects and effectively communicate project status on a regular basis, and escalate to leadership where necessary.
  • Run the Business - Able to leverage technical, functional and process expertise to trouble shoot issues, identify root cause and drive to resolution.

Intuit provides a competitive compensation package with a strong pay for performance rewards approach. The expected base pay range for this position is:

Bay Area California $135,000 - 182,500

Southern California $124,500 - 168,500

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting/Business Systems

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of functional finance/business systems experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Skills particularly important to success are:

  • Strong “systems / process orientation” with demonstrated analytical thinking, organizational skills and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, presentation and influencing skills, including the ability to raise issues appropriately to the right level internally and externally to resolve
  • Ability to influence people and indirectly manage a team of people to ensure the effective execution of complex initiatives
  • Ability to manage complexity well and demonstrate experience managing across functions and businesses to accomplish large scale goals
  • Must be comfortable working in cross-functional teams and willing to voice an opinion
  • Must be able to understand both business needs and the technologies to implement them
  • Basic data analysis skills; ability to analyze data and identify data issues; SQL knowledge extremely beneficial
  • Ability to adapt to change and willing to take on new and complex challenges
