The company’s success rests to a large extent on the quality of its data, the ability to curate, combine, protect, and analyze this data. For example extensive data allows us to identify and thwart fraudsters in real-time, and analyze stages of invoice to payment processing.

We are looking for a hands-on Data Engineering manager to play a key role in expanding the risk and fraud mitigating capabilities in our New York City office.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a group of big data engineers in building batch and real-time pipelines around risk and fraud.
  • Work closely with product managers, fraud analysts, data scientists, and software developers from around the world.
  • Gather data needs from internal customers like product and analysts, and translate those requirements into a working big data platform.
  • Develop data-centric software using leading-edge big data technologies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues both locally and in remote locations
  • Influence the software architecture and working procedures for building data, analytics, and data science environments
  • Participate in design and code reviews
  • Manage your own time, and work both independently and as part of a team
  • Be the go-to person for anything and everything regarding understanding the data - exploration, pipelines, analytics, etc.

Qualifications

  • At least two years experience in managing development projects and software professionals, in particular in the big data area
  • Strong communication skills
  • Deep hands-on knowledge in big data engineering in a cloud environment, including:
    • Excellent knowledge of SQL in a large scale data warehouse or data lakehouse environment such as Spark, Databricks, Presto/Athena/Trino
    • Experience working in cloud environment, preferably AWS using tools such as EMR/Spark, Kafka, Databricks, S3, EC2
    • Strong knowledge of database / dimensional modeling / data integration tools
    • Experience writing scripts with languages like Python, and shell scripts in a Linux environment
    • Can-do attitude, hands-on approach, passionate about data
    • Experience in defining big data architecture
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Industrial Engineering or Computer Science; equivalent experience will be considered
  • Experience dealing directly with internal customers regarding their data needs
  • Ability to learn quickly and be productive in a short period of time
  • Experience with risk/fraud/cyber systems
  • Experience working in a multi-national high-tech environment
  • Some knowledge of Data Science/Machine Learning
  • Knowledge/Experience with Scala, Java
  • Some experience with stream processing or near real-time data ingestion
  • Some knowledge of graph databases
  • Exceptional sense of humor

Intuit provides a competitive compensation package with a strong pay for performance rewards approach. The expected base pay range for this position is New York $206,500 - $279,500. This position will be eligible for a cash bonus, equity rewards and benefits, in accordance with our applicable plans and programs (see more about our compensation and benefits at Intuit®: Careers | Benefits). Pay offered is based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and work location.
