We are looking for a talented Senior Software Test Engineer to join our sequencing instrument development team. This team creates new platform technologies to support Illumina’s growing fleet of DNA sequencers. The role will focus on leading testing that bridge between the software and hardware (imaging, optics, etc). Collaborating with engineers from various hardware, software, and firmware disciplines is a daily occurrence.

This position will require the candidate to perform Instrument, simulator, integration testing using both automated and manual testing techniques, with a focus on hardware integration.

The successful candidate will display a strong sense of ownership, motivation, and attention to detail.

Job Duties:

• Lead domain test engineers in writing and executing manual tests as needed.

• Operate a variety of laboratory instrumentation and simulators to perform integration testing, system testing, and functionality testing

• Develop and execute automated API/UI/Unit tests to enable continuous delivery.

• Lead and technically mentor junior test engineers

• Work collaboratively and effectively in a very fast paced environment.

Qualifications:

• 4-8 years’ in-depth experience working in Software Test Engineering and/or Development of the SDLC to test instrument software.

• Experience and familiarity with test automation. Experience authoring automated API/UI tests using frameworks/tools, such as Selenium, Protractor

• B.S. in a Computer Science, Bioengineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering related area or equivalent technical experience.

Desired:

• Understanding of Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, or related field of biology

• Experience in performance testing, usability testing, and security testing

• Be curious, detail oriented, and analytical, with a proven ability to learn quickly

• Be customer-focused, team-oriented, and motivated, taking ownership of assigned tasks

• Have proven ability to self-manage, as well as manage interdisciplinary relationships

• Have proven verbal and written communication skills

The estimated base salary range for the Sr Software Test Engineer role based in the United States of America is: $105,600 - $158,400. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
