The Senior Accountant performs general accounting activities, including the preparation, maintenance and reconciliation of ledger accounts and financial statements such as balance sheets, profit-and-loss statements and capital expenditure schedules. Conducts or assists in the documentation of accounting projects.

The Senior Accountant work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

The Senior Accountant prepares, records, analyzes and reports accounting transactions and ensures the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles. Provides financial support, analyzing variations from budget and forecast. Analyzes and prepares statutory accounts, financial statements and reports. Begins to influence department’s strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments. Primarily responsibilities include Joint Venture journal entries, Cash flow forecast, funding requests, cash analysis, and GAAP Financial Statements.

  • Prepare Cash forecast model, quarterly funding requests, and prepare cash funding transfers on a monthly and quarterly basis

  • Prepare GAAP Financial Statements

  • Prepare audit support files that reconcile to GAAP Financials

  • Work with Internal and External Audit on Joint Venture annual audit

  • Responsible for the Joint Venture accounting – record transactions, financial analysis and prepare reports

  • Review and prepare financial data, transactions and reports, including ad-hoc data requests for executive leadership

  • Partner with other areas across the organization to ensure accurate reporting of our WCAS financials

  • Prepare and record journal entries

  • Develop methods and criteria for measuring and summarizing financial data and preparing complex analyses

  • Special projects as the business requires

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance

  • 5 or more years of account and finance

  • Prior experience with journal entries and GAAP financials

  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Must have strong analytical skills with attention to details

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration

  • Certified Public Accountant license

  • Prior experience in public or corporate accounting

  • Prior experience in financial modeling

  • Hyperion Essbase and Oracle

  • Knowledge of SQL applications

  • Healthcare business experience

Additional Information

This is Hybrid/ office role located in Louisville, KY and requires 2 to 3 days in the office.

You must be authorized to work in the US without Humana sponsorship as Humana does not provide work visa sponsorship for this role.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


$69,800 - $96,200 per year


This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
