Aero Test is a group of engineers and technicians within Engines & Power Systems’ Engineering Test Services (ETS) organization. We plan and execute gas turbine engine component, sub-assembly and core engine tests for all Propulsion engines and Auxiliary Power Units (APUs). We are currently supporting new gas turbine engine technology development and test Facility Upgrades. We are leading and supporting various Engineering Transformation initiatives focused on delivering the data our customers need under accelerated schedules.

The Senior Advanced Test Engineer will be responsible for leading the coordination of combustion tests, including test estimates, facility design, and capital projects for one or more product lines. The main focus of this role is to ensure the preparation, coordination, and execution of combustion test requests for Engines and Power Systems (E&PS), with the ultimate goal of delivering high-quality data to our customers.

In addition to test coordination, you will also take the lead in designing and maintaining test facilities and equipment for various combustion test programs and projects. This includes working closely with stakeholders to design and maintain test facilities, as well as designing and configuring test equipment. The Engineer in this role will utilize their knowledge of engineering processes, discipline, and tools to estimate, plan, and execute tasks and projects related to the development of Honeywell engines.

Furthermore, you will serve as a mentor and trainer for the cross-functional team, ensuring that all objectives for the test programs are achieved. This will involve leveraging their demonstrated experience to provide guidance and support to the team.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage combustion test requests for Engines and Power Systems (E&PS) products, ensuring the delivery of high-quality data to customers.
  • Lead the design and maintenance of test facilities and equipment for various combustion test programs/projects.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design and maintain test facilities, configure and upkeep test equipment, and plan and execute tests.
  • Utilize engineering knowledge and tools to estimate, plan, and execute tasks and projects related to the development of Honeywell engines.
  • Mentor and train the cross-functional team to achieve all objectives for the test programs.
  • Make technical decisions, coordinate technical requirements with customers, and advise leadership and customers on technical aspects and issues.
  • Approve technical content, commitments, and associated cost and schedule for proposals or change orders.
  • Drive upgrades and maintenance of combustion test facilities and equipment to maximize uptime and optimize return on investment.
  • Support onsite work schedule, including occasional support on 2nd and 3rd shift for certain tests.
  • U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

    Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.

    MUST HAVE:

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
    • 5+ years of experience in Engineering (Mechanical, Test, Project) and/or Test, with hands-on experience.

    WE VALUE

    • Gas turbine combustion testing experience is highly valued.
    • Experience in capital program planning and execution.
    • Strong background and experience in defining a test program plan to achieve development risk reduction requirements within budget and schedule constraints.
    • Experience with Gas Turbine Components and sub-assembly Test Facilities and equipment required to operate them.
    • Familiarity with Control Systems, especially facility control system and transient behaviors of test systems.
    • Demonstrated ability to execute quickly under strict schedule constraints while still achieving technical objectives.
    • Background in requirements management, validation, and verification.
    • Agile program management experience is a plus.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of Technology Readiness Assessment (TRA) and Technology Readiness Level (TRL).
    • Comfortable working on multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Ability to identify critical issues and drive them to resolution for successful outcomes.
    • Skilled change agent with a proven ability to drive transformational/cultural improvement and deliver results.
    • Detail-oriented with strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, time management, decision-making, analytical, conflict resolution, and customer management skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to build teams and work collaboratively across multiple functions and organizational levels.
