This role is specifically within our Infrastructure, Platform, & DevOps portion of our Product Development (PD) Platform Operations team. This group maintains all aspects of our deployed Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX) platform here within Ford Motor Company.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team and play a critical role in the design, implementation, development, CI/CD, and maintenance of our PLM & Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE platform infrastructure within Ford. This role requires a deep understanding of cloud technologies, DevOps processes, SaaS tools like Github, Github Actions, JFrog, automation tools, automation languages like Terraform & Ansible, -- all while ensuring the high availability, enterprise grade performance, and security of our platform. The ideal candidate should have a passion for automation, DevOps, & bleeding edge technology & methods.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Strategy: Lead the DevOps team to strategize, implement, and manage scalable and efficient development operations across all stages of the software development lifecycle (for 3DX)
- Technical Expertise: Provide deep expertise in tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines to enhance infrastructure automation and deployment processes
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate closely with our developers, IT operations, infrastructure teams, and business teams to align DevOps initiatives with organizational goals and ensure seamless integration
- Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize the software delivery process, reduce release cycle times, and enhance product quality and reliability
- Mentorship and Development: Mentor and develop junior DevOps engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous learning within the team
- Security and Compliance: Ensure security best practices and compliance are integrated into DevOps processes, implementing tools and protocols to safeguard the infrastructure and data
- Monitoring and Performance: Oversee the automation around observability & monitoring for the platform using code
- Innovation and Adoption: Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in the DevOps landscape, evaluating and adopting new tools and practices to maintain a competitive edge.
- Automation: Help us continue our journey of automating & managing our global platform to eliminate downtime, and improve efficiency
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of DevOps tools, architecture, configurations, and processes.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or work experience equivalent
- 8+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role, with a primarily dealing with public cloud, development, and developer operations
- 5+ years of experience in writing & managing Ansible playbooks, tasks, and roles
- Expert level proficiency in automating provisioning, configuration management, and application deployment using Ansible
- Expert level proficiency integrating Ansible with other tools and platforms – such as Linux, Windows, and containers
- Extensive experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud Networking, Cloud Load Balancing, and other relevant services (or equivalent public cloud to GCP)
- Expert level proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools, specifically Terraform
- Expert level proficiency of utilizing Git, code bases, release management, pipelines, and CI/CD
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python)
- Strong understanding of security best practices and principles – utilizing least privileged models
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Advanced understanding of server & virtualization technologies, including VMs, containers, and serverless computing
- General knowledge & concepts of routing, switching, firewalls, and load balancing
- General knowledge of Java Virtual Machines (JVMs), Tomcat, Apache HTTP Server, and HAProxy
