Job Title: Data Engineer

Location: Rapid City, South Dakota

Details: 18-month contract with ongoing need, opportunity for direct hire

Pay Rate: $22.00 – 22.95 based on inclusions for medical insurance or sponsorship

Job Summary:

The main function of a Data Engineer is to ensure that the data assets of an organization are supported by architecture that helps the organization achieve its strategic goals. This is a fast-paced, highly rewarding opportunity to work with the Caterpillar substance compliance team to aid customers in sustainability efforts and learn multiple new skills that will aid in personal development.

Job Responsibilities:

• Test programs or databases, correct errors, and make necessary modifications.
• Modify existing databases and database management systems or direct programmers and analysts to make changes.
• Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of the database to the management system or direct others in coding descriptions.
• Participate in receiving and tracking of substance compliance customer requests.
• Conduct substance analysis process using material specifications.
• Assist in maintenance of metrics on Chemical Management customer requests.
• Support tool & database development by providing end-user needs for system requirement development (Material Content Tool, 1ESpec Libraries, TcSC, CDS, SnowFlake, etc.).

Years of Experience and Education:

• Associate's degree in computer programming or a relevant field required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2-4 years of experience required.

Skills Required:

Technical Skills (Required):

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office base programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Excel experience (pivot tables, formula creation & execution).
• Basic knowledge of logical data modeling and physical data modeling.
• Basic knowledge of computer software, such as SQL, Visual Basic, Oracle, etc.

Technical Skills (Desired):

• Ability to complete detailed data analysis.
• Mechanical print reading.
• Manufacturing experience.
• Compliance experience.
