Our Cambridge, MA site is at the forefront of technological advancements, and we are currently seeking a skilled Engineer to join our team to provide crucial equipment support.
Position Summary:
As an Engineer at our Cambridge facility, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of equipment used in our technology development initiatives. Your role will involve overseeing equipment systems, coordinating projects for equipment modifications, and supporting new product introductions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the system owner for assigned equipment, ensuring its reliability and supporting technology development initiatives.
- Develop and maintain process control automation solutions for bench top Finesse and DeltaV Controllers in our Next Generation Lab.
- Coordinate projects for equipment modifications and improvements.
- Perform data trend analysis to monitor system and equipment performance, proactively managing any trends.
- Ensure successful implementation of the preventive maintenance schedule.
- Create and maintain a critical spare parts list, ensuring appropriate levels of inventory.
- Troubleshoot performance trends and equipment reliability issues.
- Support new product introductions and the implementation of new equipment/technology.
- Contribute to continuous improvement projects and monitor their effectiveness.
- Initiate and review changes to operating procedures and EHS change control processes related to the equipment.
- Identify and implement engineering improvements or upgrades to process equipment, including design requirements, options analysis, installation, startup, and qualification.
- Lead engineering or process projects, working collaboratively with various functions and contributing to investigations.
Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience in biotech or pharma environments, with hands-on experience working with equipment.
- Experience in upstream cell culture or downstream purification.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering is preferred.
- Background in instrumentation, preventative maintenance, and automation (DeltaV or Finesse controllers).
- Experience with process monitoring or trending, bioreactors, and chromatography is a plus.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues effectively.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in data trend analysis.
- Excellent project management skills with a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to design, execute, and lead engineering or process projects.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and spare parts management.
