Role Description

As an Infrastructure Engineer in Build Toolchains team, your role will be crucial in shaping technical strategy and and development of large scale distributed build systems that not only support our current flagship products but also lay the groundwork for the next wave of engineering innovations. From optimizing build infrastructure and developer experiences across various platforms to ensuring seamless scalability and efficiency, you'll be at the forefront of shaping the technological backbone of our developer productivity organization.

Collaborating closely with engineering teams and leaders, you'll leverage your expertise to tackle audacious challenges and push the boundaries of what's possible. Your contributions will directly impact hundreds of developers at Dropbox millions of users, as every line of code you write furthers our mission to revolutionize the way people work and collaborate.

Responsibilities

  • Build infrastructure for developer productivity systems that power daily workflows of hundreds of engineers executing hundreds of thousands of builds and hundreds of millions of test cases everyday.
  • Measure and optimize system performance and drive expansion and adoption of Bazel and Remote Build execution technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team and engineering teams to innovate and implement solutions that enhance the performance, reliability, and security of Dropbox's infrastructure, ensuring a seamless experience for developers and Dropbox users.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members, sharing knowledge and best practices to cultivate a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the infrastructure engineering team.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously enhance Dropbox's infrastructure and maintain a competitive edge in the market.

Many teams at Dropbox run Services with on-call rotations, which entails being available for calls during both core and non-core business hours. If a team has an on-call rotation, all engineers on the team are expected to participate in the rotation as part of their employment. Requirements

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics), or equivalent technical experience
  • 8+ years of professional software development experience
  • Proven track record constructing and managing expansive, multi-threaded, geographically dispersed backend systems
  • Proficient in programming and debugging across a range of languages such as Python, Go, C/C++, or Java
  • Proficiency with operating system internals, filesystems, databases, networks, and compilers.
  • Proven track record of defining & delivering well-scoped milestones/projects
  • Ability to independently define right solutions for ambiguous, open-ended problems
  • Expertise in Bazel

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in designing large scale distributed build systems
  • Proven track record of addressing developer tooling challenges in large engineering organizations.

Compensation

Canada Pay Range
$184,500—$249,500 CAD

The range listed above is the expected annual salary/OTE for this role, subject to change.

Salary/OTE is just one component of Dropbox’s total rewards package. All regular employees are also eligible for the corporate bonus program or a sales incentive (target included in OTE) as well as stock in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
