Job Summary:

Reporting directly to the Director of Global Procurement for Product Facing, this role will lead a team of procurement solutions professionals with accountability for the development, communication, and governance of the RISM material cost reduction tracker. Collaborate with procurement category teams, Product EVC teams, and facility manufacturing teams to generate material cost savings ideas that will bring benefits to Caterpillar and our customers. This Senior Manager position will align resources to provide analytical support to our category teams when evaluating cost reduction opportunities along with investigating cost leads that are advantageous for category teams to execute with suppliers.

What You Will Do:

  • Manages the relationship between procurement category teams and the Resource Industries Product Group extended value chain teams, to drive collaboration across groups in the development of cost reduction ideas to lower material cost.
  • Leading a team responsible for investigating potential cost leads, providing governance for RISM category team cost reduction projects/pipeline, and monitoring cost reduction forecasts in alignment with business planning.
  • Leveraging skillset and knowledge within procurement to help the product groups develop optimal and executable value chains.
  • Leading and deploying key projects (including NPI/NSI execution) to successfully meet product group’s targets.

Education Requirement:

Bachelor’s degree in a business, engineering or supply chain concentration

What Skills You Will Have:

  • Previous procurement, product, or manufacturing experience is required.
  • Global sourcing knowledge and experience required. Experience in additional disciplines preferred.
  • Previous cost reduction project experience is preferred.
  • Previous 6 Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt or Sponsor experience preferred.
  • Professional certification in Purchasing and/or Inventory Management preferred, e.g.; Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.), Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and Certified in Integration Resource Management (CIRM), or comparable International certification.
  • Affiliation with Institute for Supply Management (ISM) and American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS), or comparable professional purchasing organization, preferred.

Business Process Improvement:
• Analyzes business processes, identifies alternative solutions to outdated processes and assesses their feasibility.
• Evaluates financial, cultural, technological and other factors that need to be addressed.
• Recommends new approaches that seek the use of advanced technology.
• Establishes requirements for large changes in the overall mission, roles, responsibilities and processes necessary to make business improvements.
• Participates in defining organizational strategic goals and purposes; defines how to gather and keep customers.
• Works to overcome BPI resistance from managers, the labor force and other groups.

Cost-Benefit Analysis:
• Evaluates alternative approaches to determining the cost-benefit ratio.
• Advises others on developing cost-benefit analyses in different organizational areas.
• Correlates quantified benefits with user objectives.
• Establishes best practices for quantifying costs and benefits.
• Recommends processes for selecting measurements and approaches for cost-benefit analyses.
• Collaborates with senior management in aligning strategies with organizational goals and industry benchmarks.

Data Analytics:
• Collects required data through various data sources and documents them for evaluating trends and activities.
• Assists in preparing charts, graphs, tables, and other tools to represent the results obtained from data analysis.
• Researches business-related data, analyzes, interprets, and presents findings to management.
• Recognizes and assesses problems, opportunities, and methods for improving existing business performance.
• Utilizes designated data analysis software to analyze the data.

Additional Information

The locations for this position are Mossville, IL & Dallas, TX.

This position may require up to 10% travel.

Summary Pay Range:

$156,000.00 - $234,000.00
