Caterpillar’s Resource Industries Electrification team is at the forefront of developing key technologies to help our customers build a better, more sustainable world. Our innovative products are shaping the future of electrified mine sites globally. As a Configuration Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in leading and collaborating with Caterpillar team members, field experts, customers, and dealers. Your mission will be to understand critical market needs and drive the development agenda for electrification solutions in mining. You will be a crucial member of the core team, conceptualizing, architecting, and integrating new products, components, and technologies.
What you will do:
Research & Development: Develop design parameters, performance characteristics, and technical specifications for new products and components.
Technical Leadership: Guide the evolution of technical design, project planning, performance analysis, and development testing. Participate in supplier selection and capabilities assessment.
Innovation & Exploration: Monitor, explore, and test new technologies, materials, and components to identify product or process improvement opportunities.
Prototyping & Fabrication: Construct and fabricate prototype equipment. Oversee materials selection, process optimization, process yield, reliability testing, and failure analysis.
Education Requirement: A degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.

Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
Quality Management: Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.
Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
Business Process Improvement: Knowledge of business process improvement best practices and ability to use methods for identifying, evaluating, introducing and implementing more efficient approaches to performing business-related activities.
Top Candidates will also have:
Previous machinery or large OEM experience.
Research and development experience.

The primary location for this position is Tucson, AZ.
