Caterpillar is hiring a Senior Manager of Global Category Procurement for hydraulic components. This role will lead the Earthmoving global category team from North America, Asia, South America and Europe..

Role Summary: Manage a strategic breakthrough category to deliver year over year Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development, and Management (QCLDM) performance improvement and therefore create value through an improved global supply network. Deliver global leverage and supply network market knowledge to product supply organizations for incorporation into future designs & supply design collaboration events.

What You Will Do:

  • Accountable for the development, communication, and implementation of a worldwide sourcing strategy for hydraulic components.
  • Collaborate with the Supply Network on risk mitigation and drive resiliency.
  • Manage supplier performance, relationships, and agreements/contracts for the category while working closely with the engineering & purchasing peer groups.
  • Lead the team and supply base to deliver cost reduction, quality improvement, and new product introduction (NPI) objectives.
  • Manage a global team across Asia, North America, South America, and Europe of supplier development engineers and procurement professionals who will identify, develop, and manage a high performing global supply network.
  • Develop, mentor, and train personnel. Maintain the highest ethical and professional standards within this diverse global organization and recognize employee excellence.
  • Lead teams to fully understand the requirements and performance of the supply base. Evaluate strategic sourcing options; decide a course of action and implement.
  • Represent Earthmoving Supply Management (EMSM) on the Enterprise Hydraulics Category Council and lead the enterprise relationship with strategic suppliers.

What You Have (Basic Qualifications):

  • Extensive and progressive experience in engineering, global sourcing, marketing, sales or other commercially focused roles
  • Well-developed project management, communication, relationship management and negotiation skills
  • Understanding of governmental, environmental, political, and geographic factors that influence a supply base
  • Complex strategic relationship management experience
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Ability to travel up to 25% globally
  • Flexibility to work across multiple time zones and accommodate early or late meetings

Top Candidates Will Have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Lean, quality and cost modeling knowledge
  • Previous 6 Sigma Black Belt experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of supplier capacity planning and catalogue management
  • Strong business acumen
