Job Summary

Summary:

Responsible for overseeing the coding team, ensuring accurate and compliant coding of medical records, and optimizing coding processes. This role collaborates with various stakeholders to maintain coding integrity, ensure regulatory compliance, and support revenue cycle management initiatives

Essential Functions:

Oversee the coding team, including hiring, training, mentoring, and performance management.
-Assign coding tasks and ensure appropriate workload distribution among team members.
-Conduct regular coding quality reviews to assess accuracy, compliance, and productivity.
-Provide ongoing education and training to coding staff to enhance coding skills and knowledge.
-Develop and implement coding policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure efficient and accurate coding processes.
-Continuously evaluate coding workflows and systems to identify opportunities for improvement.


Qualifications

Education
Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Licenses and Credentials

Experience
Progressive coding experience, including management or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting. 5-7 years required and Management experience 2-3 years preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with individuals at all levels, including patients, visitors, and staff.
- Extensive knowledge of coding systems, including ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS.
- Strong understanding of coding guidelines, conventions, and industry regulations.
- In-depth knowledge of revenue cycle management, billing processes, and healthcare reimbursement methodologies.
- Familiarity with coding software and technology, such as encoder systems and computer-assisted coding (CAC) tools.
- Excellent leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and develop coding staff.
