About the Role:
Provides key leadership and direction to process technology teams by driving consistency between franchises and project teams and leveraging best practices across the organization. Recognized expert on current key technologies that are core to the business. Provides vision to next generation process technologies that enhance the company’s product development cycle and/or improve product cost margins. This role will require the individual to have demonstrated expertise in developing complex polymer material assembly and bonding processes. This will include introducing new product design concepts, design for manufacturability and support of integrated finished devices. Ability to influence across business units and functions is critical to success in this role.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Serves as a key resource or expert; sets technical direction for the function and/or organization.
- Investigates needs of future product designs and develops process technology plans to support development teams; provides sound business rationale for investment in proposed research or technology.
- Studies and understands relevant published articles and works, to either apply them directly to our advanced engineering problems or to develop working relationships with parties for accomplishment of same.
- Facilitates development of predictive models for product design teams to enhance their visualization and understanding of design, material and process interactions.
- Evaluates process technologies at other BSC sites and externally to BSC and leverages where applicable; serves as key contact for technical queries from other BSC sites.
- Sets direction for education efforts and mentoring in their area of expertise.
- Serves as a contributor on technical review teams; provides risk assessment and recommendations.
- Fields requests from TDP and PDP teams and makes recommendations relative to proposed concepts or approaches.
- Publishes and presents to the technical community on behalf of Boston Scientific, as applicable.
- Reviews and assesses processes for potential patent opportunities; generates IP, as applicable.
- Provide work direction to other engineers and technicians.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- Minimum of 5 years of related engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced education/experience in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering or Biomedical Engineering or related area of focus
- Experience working within polymer material assembly and bonding processes Demonstrated cross functional teamwork in technically demanding environment
- Experience in leadership of team members
- Medical Device design and process development experience
