We are seeking an IT Architect - AI, Data, and Digital to lead the design, architecture, and implementation of innovative digital and data products , as well as AI solutions across BSC on a global scale. This role is crucial to the AI, Data, Visualization, and Digital Health team, focusing on planning, scoping, and building technology solutions that drive organizational value, efficiency, and engagement.

The architect will drive the AI platform and delivery teams, designing new, modifying existing, and scaling opportunities to realize the value of AI/GenAI. The ideal candidate will be passionate about building and maintaining AI/Generative AI applications, with strong leadership skills to implement the latest AI techniques and adhere to best practices from Software Engineering, DevOps, MLOps, and LLMOps.

Additionally, the role involves providing thought leadership, strategic direction, consulting, standards, and technology guidance to IT service providers and business lines. The architect will develop architecture strategies, frameworks, and governance processes, establishing long-term directions to ensure sound investment decisions.

This is a hybrid opportunity requiring three days on-site at either our Marlborough, MA, or Twin Cities, MN, office locations

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Define and oversee the AI/GenAI technical direction and architectural vision, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and digital and data transformation efforts.
  • Translate the vision into realistic technical implementations, identifying misaligned initiatives and impractical use cases across data and digital products.
  • Contribute to architecting a comprehensive AI framework that supports the deployment, evaluation, and management of GenAI solutions.
  • Drive the selection of appropriate technologies and enable platforms to deliver on strategic AI/GenAI programs globally.
  • Collaborate with the Enterprise Architecture team on Application, Data, and Digital to pilot use cases and discuss architectural design.
  • Gather inputs from multiple stakeholders to align technical implementations with existing and future requirements.
  • Oversee the successful execution of AI/GenAI programs and delivery using agile methodology.
  • Work closely with security and risk leaders to foresee and mitigate risks, ensuring ethical AI implementation and compliance with upcoming regulations.
  • Educate AI, data, and digital product managers and business stakeholders on the potential and limitations of AI/GenAI when planning new products.

Required qualifications:

  • 8+ years architecture experience.
  • 5+ years of experience working in an AI, data, or digital environment.
  • 5+ years of experience with application architecture analysis, design, and delivery.
  • 5+ years of full system development life cycle implementations.
  • Demonstrated ability to create implementation roadmaps that provide realistic progress to achieving a future state.
  • Ability to create architectures for complex solutions leveraging approved strategic and standard technologies.
  • Capable of explaining architecture principles in both IT and non-IT terms across multiple architecture domains.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certifications in AI/ML technologies and cloud platforms, such as AWS Certified Machine Learning - Specialty, Google Cloud Professional Machine Learning Engineer, Azure AI Engineer, Azure Data Scientist, or Azure Solutions Architect.
  • Experience in Generative AI and large language models (LLMs), with a preference for those experienced in delivering and productionizing these technologies.
  • Experience in implementing cloud-based AI/ML workloads on platforms like AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
