We’re looking for an extraordinary Technical Localization Project Manager specializing in AI language technologies such as Machine translation and LLM. They will work closely with internal and external partners to assess our AI language technology needs and suggest creative ways of utilizing these technologies to introduce efficiencies.
Description
Support Retail Engagement and Marketing (REM) localization team in utilizing the greatest and latest AI language technologies such as Machine Translation and LLM. Work closely with internal and external partners to deliver automated solutions for localized content for our non-English speaking employees and customers Lead and drive localization automation projects to the next level from efficiency, quality and cost perspective Manage and create Machine Translation Pos Editing process. Apply advanced linguistic knowledge to refine and optimize machine translation models, focusing on linguistic aspect, cultural nuances, and regional variations Partner with cross-functional teams, linguists, AI engineers and vendors to create the next generation of technology and process for Retail Collaborate to identify content for localizability, identify terminology, reference material, and assess quality of source content Partner with linguistic teams in geo and vendors to articulate localization quality requirements to achieve the best quality for Apple’s employees and customers Focus on the details and have the capability to explain very complex issues to the cross-functional team who may not have deep understanding on localization Help drive bug resolution, and communicate status throughout development effectively Handle schedule challenges, query cycles, linguistic QA Use your problem solving skills and critical thinking to be an agent of change Be a self-starter with passion to do something great and a go-getter attitude Apply exceptional communication skills that are effective across all levels of the organization
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 8+ years experience in a technical project management on localization role
- Deep understanding of software engineering process especially in the agile software development and app development (iOS and Web)
- Expert on Machine Learning, process automation and technology, out of the box thinking with data analytical skills to drive great internal and customer experience
- Solid understanding of linguistic metrics and methodologies for evaluating machine translation quality, including BLEU scores, and edit distance algorithms
- Ability to navigate and incorporate cultural nuances into machine translation models, ensuring translations resonate authentically with diverse global audiences
- Expert with localization tools and translation management systems (WorldServer, Trados, etc.), MT systems and Localization automation systems
- Language skills in one or more languages other than English, with a deep understanding of the linguistic challenges posed by different language families

- BA or MA in an area related to Localization
- Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks applied in linguistic contexts, showcasing innovation in machine translation
- Contributions to the field of machine translation, such as publications, conference presentations, or active participation in relevant linguistic and AI communities
