As part of our Camera Technologies group, you’ll help design the innovative technology that allows each generation of Apple products to produce photos even more incredible than the last. You’ll design and develop groundbreaking ideas for everything involved in our camera systems, from sensor to lens. You’ll collaborate with teams across Apple to research, design, develop, test, and qualify camera hardware for Apple products. Together, we’ll craft a magical photography experience that redefines what millions of customers can expect from their cameras. The Camera Hardware Engineering group is responsible for the design, development, and innovation of camera hardware for all related Apple products. Our target is to deliver extraordinary hardware to enable outstanding camera user experience. We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate individual who can help us with tomorrow’s challenges!

Description

Determine component level requirements, and develop schematic designs for innovative camera modules components containing image sensors, microcontrollers, low-noise power supplies, AF/OIS drivers, and high-speed serial interfaces Analyze circuit parasitics and tolerances to ensure correct operation over the specified voltage and temperature ranges Direct layout for PCB, Flex, and substrates Familiarity with challenges relating to power quality, high-speed signal integrity and control interface Author clear and comprehensive electrical test documentation for manufacturing partners to complete test and validation Collaborate with X-functional teams to simulate, test, and validate performance of all designs Develop electronic prototypes for new camera features and product concepts

Minimum Qualifications

Key Qualifications

  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals including analog and digital design
  • Experience working with dynamic multi-functional teams
  • Excellent written, verbal and communication skills focused on teamwork and collaboration
  • Experience in several of the following areas:
  • High-speed digital design (MIPI, Displayport, HDMI, PCIE, etc)
  • Experience with Analog circuit design including low voltage power regulation
  • Fundamentals of signal and power integrity (PDN analysis)
  • Schematic capture and PCB design
  • Strong knowledge of layout strategies for Rigid PCB, Flex, and Rigid-Flex
  • Good understanding of material selection, Stack-up planning and noise suppression
  • Experience with EMI minimization, signal integrity
  • Design for manufacturing, testing and reliability (DFM, DFT, DFR)
  • Hands-on lab experience with hardware bring-up and debug
  • Integration of hardware into multi-functional systems (De-sense and CoEX)
  • Familiarity with the challenges of taking a product from design through to production

Preferred Qualifications

Education & Experience

BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience

Additional Requirements

  • Occasional travel may be required, but is not a critical component of this position.
  • High-volume consumer electronics system experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of CMOS image sensor, ISP or image processing is desirable
  • Statistical data analysis and visualization (ex. JMP) is a plus
  • Command line interface and scripting is a plus
  • Cadence Concept and Allegro or similar CAD tools experience is a plus
