DESCRIPTION

The Spend Analysis, Governance & Education (SAGE) team’s vision is that every Amazonian practices frugality and good judgement with their business expenses. We are a small, newly-formed team of finance managers and business analysts in the Corporate FP&A organization. We deep dive expense data for some of Amazon’s largest and most complex organizations to identify opportunities to increase frugality. Through data-driven discussions tailored to each business, we educate leaders on expense best practices, trends in their organization, and areas of opportunity, and empower them to train their teams. As we learn from business use cases, we partner with other central finance teams to improve systems and tools to enable better data analysis and better spend behavior.
The SAGE team has an immediate opening for a Finance Manager to dive deep into expense data and serve as a trusted partner to business and finance leaders. This is an exciting opportunity to join a new team seeking to power the frugality flywheel – this role will deliver results that drive better expense decisions and tools impacting all Amazonians worldwide. Successful candidates will be passionate about controllership, data and analytics, and process improvements. This position requires high judgement and a growth mindset as we’ll be creating and iterating on processes with senior leadership visibility and involving sensitive data.
This position requires effective written and verbal communication to senior leaders and large audiences, the ability to identify insights from large data sets, and excellent collaboration, relationship-building, and strategic influencing skills. This ideal candidate will enjoy translating financial data into insightful narratives that inform leaders of what's happening in the business and make data-driven recommendations to improve expense frugality.


Key job responsibilities
- Deep dive expense data to identify insights and trends for discussion with business and finance leaders
- Educate business and finance leaders on expense insights, policies, and best practices through written narratives, verbal discussions, and org trainings
- Actively listen to business and finance teams to uncover root causes and understand business use cases
- Partner with business and finance teams to implement recommendations to improve frugality
- Track effectiveness through data and anecdotes
- Recommend process, system, and tool changes to improve expense analysis

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science), or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of multiple finance and accounting roles experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- MBA
- Experience in solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits)
- Experience communicating results to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
