DESCRIPTION

As an Software Development Engineer II at Amazon, you will be an autonomous contributor responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining software solutions that drive our business forward. You'll work on complex problems and deliver high-quality code that meets Amazon's rigorous standards. Your role will involve collaborating with team members and contributing to the full software development lifecycle.

Within the Global Benchmark Standard Audit (GBSA) team, you will contribute to an innovative product portfolio designed to advance GBSA's long-term objectives. Your primary focus will be on two key initiatives, such as the development of a new versatile, user-oriented auditing platform across multiple business units and geographies, and a leadership checklist for AMZL Logistics.
These platforms will leverage emerging Amazon technologies, including AI and computer visioning, to enhance the platform’s capabilities, addressing the capacity constraints faced by operators.

Key job responsibilities
- Software Development: design and implement software features and improvements for major portions of your team's systems. Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code that adheres to Amazon's code quality standards. Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers.
- Technical Leadership: lead the design and implementation of software solutions for complex problems. Make sound technical decisions and trade-offs, balancing short-term needs with long-term maintainability

- Project Execution: manage the full software development lifecycle for assigned projects. Work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills. Deliver projects on time and communicate progress effectively to stakeholders

- Operational Excellence: actively participate in operational support for your team's systems. Identify and resolve root causes of operational issues. Implement improvements to enhance system reliability and performance

- Customer Focus: Understand the business and customer value of your team's software. Work with stakeholders to ensure solutions meet customer needs and expectations. Proactively identify opportunities to improve customer experience

- Continuous Improvement: stay current with industry trends and best practices in software development. contribute to improving team processes and development practices

- Collaboration: work effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions. Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to travel once per quarter.

About the team
This role is within Amazon Last Mile division (AMZL). AMZL manages the delivery of millions of packages to customers through Delivery Stations. The Global Benchmarking, Standards and Audit (GBSA) team within AMZL performs benchmarking analysis to identify best-in-class performances, defines operating standards based on best-in-class procedures and delivers auditing mechanism to understand the state of standard work adoption.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
