Amazon Freight is building a disruptive transportation product with the vision of redefining shipping for its customers. The goal is to develop easy-to-use, reliable and transparent transportation services that raise the customer experience bar relative to all existing shipping alternatives. In doing this, Amazon is deeply studying customer shipping needs and building innovative, market-leading solutions that will organically attract customers towards our services.
We are building an exciting new business in this space and seeking a Business Analyst to support data analytics for Amazon Freight’s Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) business. This position requires high judgment, excellent analytical skills and a creative mind to invent solutions that improve the customer experience. It offers broad exposure to various business, operational, financial, product and technical teams across Amazon Freight.

Key job responsibilities
· Generate insightful analysis, reporting, and data visualizations to answer critical business questions, proactively identify notable trends, and communicate business performance
· Translate data into actionable insights for stakeholders while proactively identifying new areas of opportunity to drive further improvements
· Apply expertise in data mining and modeling leveraging multiple data sources to uncover unique insights, identify key performance drivers, and build predictive models
· Work backwards from your end-customer to define, design, and execute each work item with an emphasis on improved metrics, productivity, and efficiency
· Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics or related field
- 1+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- 1+ years of Excel or Tableau (data manipulation, macros, charts and pivot tables) experience
- Experience defining requirements and using data and metrics to draw business insights
- Experience creating complex SQL queries joining multiple datasets, ETL DW concepts
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel at an advanced level, including: pivot tables, macros, index/match, vlookup, VBA, data links, etc.
- Experience using databases with a large-scale data set
- Good oral, written and presentation skills combined with the ability to be part of group discussions and explaining complex solutions
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience using very large datasets
- Experience working with Tableau
- Experience scripting for automation (e.g., Python, Perl, Ruby)
- Ability to apply analytical, computer, statistical and quantitative problem solving skills is required
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-task, high volume environment
- Ability to be adaptable and flexible in responding to deadlines and workflow fluctuations
- Analytical mindset and ability to see the big picture and influence others

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $50,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $107,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
