In this role, you will work on a team of highly skilled Network Engineers responsible for the end-to-end ownership of our commodity datacenter networks. This includes the design/architecture, definition and enforcement of standards, security, sustainability/scalability, deployment, and operations of our current and next generation networks.
Our ideal candidate is highly autonomous, possesses strong written and verbal communication skills, has a track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time, and possesses a strong background in Ethernet and IP networks. The desire and ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative environment is essential.
Responsibilities
- As a Network Engineer working in AWS Networking you will have end to end ownership (architecture/design/scale) of our current and newly developing networks
- Lead the design of highly available ultra-scale networks, driving them from concept to launch
- Define and influence strategy within and outside the team
- Lead project teams to deliver impactful benefits to our customers
- Work closely with our software developers to fully automate network deployment and operations
- Drive operational excellence projects to improve network performance and reliability
- Troubleshoot complex problems and develop innovative solutions
- Mentoring and coaching junior engineers
- Review and implement changes on the network
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience in a large–scale network environment
- • 1+ years experience in a network focused hands-on technical role working with IP routing protocols/technologies and platforms in large scale data center and/or WAN network environments.
- • 1+ years Unix/Linux command line experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- • Thorough understanding of TCP/IP networking, IP routing, Server Load Balancing, and Network Security architecture and core technologies such as IP, TCP, OSPF/IS-IS, BGP, MPLS, Server Load Balancers, Firewalls, ACLs, DNS, DHCP, IPAM, LDAP, NFS, etc.
- • Knowledge of network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting skills; specifically, network performance analysis
- • Experience working with customers to diagnose a problem, and work toward resolution
- • Strong desire to build, ability to multitask, sense of ownership and urgency.
- • Strong Unix/Linux skills and ability to script in Perl, Python, shell, C or C++ is highly desirable as is a strong understanding of load balancing and layer 4-7 technologies

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $102,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
