AbbVie Analytical Research & Development (Analytical R&D) is a global analytical sciences organization responsible for all CMC analytical activities related to the development of AbbVie's pharmaceutical products. Role Overview:

Within Analytical R&D, the Early Development Team focuses on preclinical analytical method development across a wide range of pipeline programs. The group is highly cross-functional and works closely with internal Analytical R&D colleagues, as well as, with Discovery, Process Chemistry, Pharmaceutics and Formulation teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for performing method development activities (e.g. (U)HPLC with UV/Vis or MS detection) related to small-molecule active pharmaceutical ingredients, intermediates, starting materials, pre-clinical formulations, and accelerated stability samples.
  • Responsible for efficiently processing and visualizing analytical data, with special attention to trends and correlations.
  • Responsible for maintaining and keeping an accurate laboratory notebook with high attention to detail.
  • Autonomous and productive in performing lab work, including, but not limited to, solution and sample preparations, stability studies, instrument maintenance, and buffer preparations, after appropriate training.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or Organic Chemistry, with typically 10-12 (BS), 8-10 (MS), 0+-4 (PhD) years related industry experience.
  • Working technical background in analytical chemistry with capability and/or willingness to develop analytical methods.
  • Hands on experience with HPLC analysis and method development.
  • Self-motivated, hard-working, detail-oriented individual able to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • High-quality written and oral communication skills and ability to interact effectively with interdisciplinary scientists and engineers.

Preferred:

  • Ability to utilize a range of analytical techniques to perform development studies related to small-molecule active pharmaceutical ingredients, intermediates, starting materials, and pre-clinical formulations.
  • Previous experience with small-molecule pharmaceutical development including long-acting injectable formulations.
